The Halot-X1 is an LCD resin (MSLA) printer: instead of extruding molten filament, it cures liquid resin layer by layer with UV light projected through an LCD screen. The result is a level of detail FDM can't reach — ideal for miniatures, jewelry or fine parts — at the cost of a very different workflow. The Halot-X1 is not an FDM machine like the Creality K/Ender printers. Resin offers finer detail but demands washing, UV curing, gloves and ventilation. It's not "harder," it's different.

What sets it apart
- 16K resolution: 14 × 19 µm pixels for very fine detail, ideal for miniatures and precision parts.
- Top-down moving optics: the optical module and vat rise while the plate stays fixed — an approach that simplifies setup and removes leveling.
- 92 light zones: the machine only fires UV where needed, limiting overexposure and extending screen life.
- AFU resin management: heating to cut viscosity, RFID parameter recognition, automatic resin feeding and recycling — far less hands-on handling.
Living with resin
This is the real topic when coming from FDM. Liquid resin is irritant and needs precautions that are part and parcel of the hobby:
- Protection: nitrile gloves, ideally goggles; avoid any skin contact with uncured resin.
- Ventilation: work in an aired space; resins give off volatile compounds.
- Post-processing: each part is washed (IPA or water depending on the resin) then UV-cured. A wash/cure station is nearly essential. The full workflow is detailed in our resin process guide.
- Waste: uncured resin is chemical waste; cure leftovers under UV before disposal.
Resin rewards you with unmatched detail, but it isn't "set and forget" like an A1. Plan the space, protective gear and post-processing before you buy.
Limits
- Modest volume: typical of resin — perfect for small detailed parts, not large objects.
- Demanding workflow: washing, UV curing, vat and screen cleaning.
- Brittle materials: most standard resins are more fragile than PLA/PETG (bar dedicated engineering resins).
- Not versatile: reserve it for detail-first uses; for functional parts, an FDM machine is still the better call.
Who's it for?
The Halot-X1 is for those who want fine detail — miniatures, scale modeling, jewelry, aesthetic prototypes — and accept the resin workflow.
