The H2D is Bambu's most ambitious printer: a large-format enclosed CoreXY with a dual nozzle (two direct-drive nozzles on one toolhead, with auto nozzle-lift) and, optionally, laser and cutting modules. It's no longer just a 3D printer — it's a small fabrication station. But it's also a serious investment that only makes sense for a few specific uses.
At the top of the Bambu lineup, above the H2S (single-nozzle, cheaper) and the X2D. If you don't need dual-material or the laser, an H2S offers comparable volume for far less.
In brief
Released in early 2025, the H2D combines a large volume (~350 × 320 × 325 mm), a 65 °C heated chamber and a 350 °C nozzle — enough for ABS, ASA, PC, PA and carbon/glass composites. Its dual nozzle enables dual-material (model + soluble support, or two colors) without cross-purging. Budget ≈ $1,899 for the base, ≈ $2,199 as an AMS Combo, and more with the laser modules; an H2D Pro variant (≈ $3,799) adds a tungsten-carbide nozzle and enterprise network security.

The dual nozzle, its real edge
Most multicolor systems (AMS, CFS, MMU) use a single nozzle and purge on every change — hence a lot of waste. The H2D carries two direct-drive nozzles side by side on one toolhead: the inactive nozzle lifts automatically while the other prints. So you can dedicate one nozzle to the main material and the other to soluble support (PVA/BVOH) or a second color, with almost no cross-purging.
Note: this is not a classic IDEX (with independent X carriages and duplication/mirror modes) — the two nozzles share one gantry and each reaches only about 325 mm of the width. The benefit is still real: clean soluble supports and dual-material (rigid + flexible) that no single nozzle does properly. For more than two shades, though, you're back to the AMS and its purging.
Laser, engraving & cutting
Optionally, the H2D takes a 455 nm blue laser in 10 W or 40 W, plus engraving and drag-knife cutting accessories. Engraving speeds up to 400 mm/s (10 W) or 1,000 mm/s (40 W). This is what turns the machine into a versatile workshop: 3D printing, marking, cutting thin materials.
A laser, especially at 40 W, demands serious safety precautions: proper goggles, fume extraction, supervision. It's not a gimmick — it's a real tool, to be treated as one.
Limits
- Price & complexity: by far the most expensive Bambu; the dual nozzle and modules add moving parts and maintenance.
- Footprint: large and heavy, needs a dedicated, stable spot.
- Often-needless premium: if you don't do dual-material or laser, you're paying for dormant features — an H2S will fit better.
- Closed ecosystem: like the rest of the range, experience optimized around Bambu's tools and cloud.
Who's it for?
The H2D is for people with a specific need: clean soluble supports, dual-material, or integrating laser/cutting into one workflow. For "regular" printing, even large-format and technical, the H2S or a simpler CoreXY is enough and costs far less. The full picture is in our Bambu Lab lineup guide.
